I am currently in the last stages of writing a PhD about resistance to territorial stigmatisation at the University of Edinburgh. My research was conducted in two neighbourhoods of the Southern French city of Nîmes. One of these has been the target of demolitions and the other was long considered for large scale 'renovation' projects that have not as yet taken place. I have spent about a year conducting ethnographic research in these areas as well as interviews with a number of civil servants from the different urban policy departments (national, regional and municipal).
I am also in the early stages of research conducted in Boulogne-Billancourt which is currently undergoing massive change as the Renault factories are replaced by upper middle class residential quarters. My work there examines the feelings of grief and mourning of those who once worked in the factories and still live in other parts of the city.
