Currently studying towards my PhD at the University of Edinburgh. This research is concerned with urban change, inequalities and social justice in Kampala, and takes a critical look at sanitation infrastructure and provision in the city.
Gained an MSc by Research with distinction as part of the ESRC 1+3 award. The project looked at Eritrean refugee narratives of dispersal in three cities in the UK (London, Newcastle and Glasgow); the work was presented at the Journeys and Justice conference at Leeds University in January 2010, and at the American Association of Geographers conference in Washington DC in April 2010. The research was awarded a prize (Best Presentation) at the University of Edinburgh's School of Geosciences Postgraduate Conference in March 2010.
Previously conducted research on Ugandan tabloid press as part of my MSc in African Studies at the University of Oxford, for which I was awarded a travel scholarship from St Antony's College, Oxford.
I have also worked for the UNHCR in the London office, and on a welfare to work project in Westminster, London.
